SOUTHSIDE STORIES

Winner of a Royal Television Society Award - Best Promotional film

Commissioned in late 2011 by Birmingham's Southside Business District, Southside Stories is a collection of short films which showcase the diversity of the sprawling Southside area in the centre of the city, which include Chinatown and the thriving gay village.

Each film spotlights a person and business in the region and tells their unique story, from the owner of a small sweet shop that's part of Birmingham's unique historical heritage to a Spanish drag queen who dishes out the paella at a thriving gay bar.

Southside Stories are the first films which Backlight Pictures have shot on their state-of-the-art Red cameras, and the official premiere is set to be September 2012 at The Electric Cinema.

The films won the Royal Television Society Award 2012 for Best Promotional film
